I recall a conversation with his wife and him at the symposium -- what they had done, their plans for travel. All quite exciting stuff. I reckoned that they were living life as life should be lived. And then... I can't imagine that anyone who met Ray, even for the first time, would not walk away with a new name on their A-list. This line "Or walk with kings--nor lose the common touch," from Kipling's poem "If" comes to my mind when I think of Ray. Sad, this.
