I sort of stated, which must have been taken as interest, so one of them asked me if I knew a place nearby where they could fax something. I was a bit nonplussed, so they generously exaplained that this meant an electronic facsimile of a printed document transmittd over a phone line. As my head tilted further and my brow contracted to an increasingly interrogatory angle they graciously began to define facsimile, during which explanation my train arrived.
