In a discussion about whether Obama's nomination represented a significant shift for the political relevancy of Black people or if it was an important, but unsustainable blip , Lani Guinier said that it was a significant shift because of the way the grass roots and innovative kind of organizing that was going on. The Republicans may come to regret the disparaging community organizer remarks after all.

More evidence: an Obama ad placed in an Xbox 360 racing game, "Burnout Paradise." Via.

Oh... and here's a dozen additional screenshots of other Obama ads in EA video games.

I would just like to add a name and book title to this post; Joe Trippi and his book, The Revolution will not be televised: democracy, the internet and the overthrow of everything. I believe the Obama strategists read this book front to back several times and have not only proved Joe Trippi right but given his views new and concrete meaning.

Great post, Luke. I didn't know about the iPhone app. I think the Obama campaign is the first to truly harness the power of 21st century communications technology - not just for fund raising but for actually getting votes. We are witnessing history in this election in more ways than one.

I knew McCain might not really be getting it when I saw his NYC faithful handing out those lawn signs at the 4-train station in downtown Brooklyn. I sort of stated, which must have been taken as interest, so one of them asked me if I knew a place nearby where they could fax something. I was a bit nonplussed, so they generously exaplained that this meant an electronic facsimile of a printed document transmittd over a phone line. As my head tilted further and my brow contracted to an increasingly interrogatory angle they graciously began to define facsimile, during which explanation my train arrived. (Late and crowded of course.)
